Blurton Road

Adding a bedroom
Bathroom design, London
Home Office design

This growing family wanted to create more space in their three-bedroom Lower Clapton house, including a loft conversion that would provide a new shower room, an office space and a new bedroom for their teenage daughter.

I redesigned the family bathroom on the first floor to accommodate their new needs, including a wardrobe and linen storage, and oversaw structural drawings, planning and interiors for the loft element. The local authority had stipulated that the new window shouldn’t be visible from the street, so a concealed terrace was designed onto the bedroom, providing lots of natural light and room for plants, with a raised wall keeping everything in line with building regs and planning.

Victorian touches were utilised throughout, including a zinc butterfly roof on the extension and marble in the main bathroom, alongside a calming colour palette and not very Victorian but very high quality Velfac windows.
