The family at Ravenscroft Road had two small children, and their compact house needed a rethink to make better use of light and space, and create a proper family-friendly space they could grow into.

In consultation with the client I redesigned the kitchen and dining area, reversing the previous layout so the kitchen sat at the rear and the living and dining space sat next to the French doors at the front. Colours were kept simple and fresh, with white dominating through the living and kitchen space, and lots of white open shelving. Bright accent colours, like the apple green countertops, added interest alongside the wood tones of the shutters and furniture and the original York stone flooring.

A host of design details all helped to maximise space throughout, including a pegboard and a specially built buggy and scooter storage to defy the constraints of the narrow Victorian corridor.
